I can’t even describe how amazing and wonderful and kind and helpful my RA is. I went in and talked to him about what’s going on with my parents and he gives the best advice and helps make everything so much more manageable. His advice went something like this:

"Its like when you get a bad grade on a test, or you have a bad break up or someone disappoints you. It hurts for a while, you’re in shock, and you don’t know how you’re going to make up for it and fix it. Then slowly, without you realizing it, you start to feel better. You get a better grade on the next test, you start talking to someone else who makes you happier than you ever thought you could be, and eventually you forget about all the pain and the helplessness you felt. Obviously in this situation, its a lot more extreme, but we just have to find a way to help you get to the point where you’re okay and can move on and focus on what’s to come, and of course its not going to be easy, or over quickly, but you have to take care of yourself and stay focused on what’s important. You can do this. I believe in you, and I’m here to help."
